ROAD TO HOPE EVENT

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

 

In order to participate in any of the following; The Road to Hope VA-PA-NJ, The Ruff Ride, the FLETC Long Ride, and or The Western VA Ride the following is required:

 MEMBERSHIP

  • All participants must be registered as a current member of Law Enforcement United, Inc. and in good standing (both financially and adhering to our standards of conduct).

  • All participants must complete all registration documents and respond to communications in a timely manner.

  • Meet all established deadlines.

  • Conduct themselves as Ambassadors of Law Enforcement United in good faith and adhere to all standards and code of conduct

  • Due to our insurance requirements; All Members/Participants/Volunteers must be 18 years of age. Club insurance for our types of events are hard to come by. As such, No exceptions will be made now or in the future in regards to this policy. Please make arrangements for your loved ones in advance. Including following the route, lunch stops, processions or LEU only events.

 UNIFORMS

  • Purchase and wear required Law Enforcement United uniforms during all days of the event.

    • New Event Participants Uniform (Minimum Requirements):

      • Riders (1) one LEU RIDER Jersey and (1) one LEU RIDER Jacket

      • Support (3) three LEU Support T-shirts and (1) one LEU Support Jacket

FUNDRAISING

  • Meet their minimum fundraising requirements, benchmarks and deadlines established by Law Enforcement United, Inc. Failure to meet minimum fundraising requirements will result in ineligibility to attend. See our Fundraising Page for more details

  • Bicycle Rider Minimum Fundraising Amount $1750. Benchmark of $400 minimum is December 1st and remaining goal due April 1st

  • Support Member Minimum Fundraising Amount $1000. Benchmark of $250 minimum is due December 1st and remaining goal due April 1st

  • Report all donations and fundraise using only approved Law Enforcement United tools and resources. Submit funds in a timely manner and ensure donor information is accurate and complete.

TEAMS

  • Team Participation: Members that elect to work as a team must have a designated team leader, provide a roster and keep roster up to date. Are responsible for team fundraising and tracking of disbursements and provide disbursements in a timely manner, and ensure donor and sponsor information is accurate and complete.

 

  • Event Staff (Mechanics/Medics/Motors/Photographers) while there is no minimum for this membership level, we do ask that you do what you can to help further the mission and help offset operational costs such as food and lodging.

 

  • FLETC LONG RIDE: If you are participating in the FLETC Long Ride, but no other Sanctioned LEU Bicycle Event, your minimum fundraising amount is $250. Benchmark of $125 is due December 1st and remaining goal due April 1st payable to Law Enforcement United, Inc. on LEUNITED.org fundraising site.

 

BICYCLE RIDER PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to participate as a Bicycle Rider in a Law Enforcement United Bicycle Event (The Road to Hope (VA-PA-NJ), The Ruff Ride, The FLETC Long Ride, or the Western VA Ride) you must also be one of the following:

1.An active or retired law enforcement officer or corrections officer who is either sworn or is eligible for Public Safety Office’s Benefits (P.S.O.B.) by the U.S. Department of Justice

2.An immediate family member of a Law Enforcement Officer (L.E.O.) that died in the line of duty ("Survivors")

Additionally you must:

  • Be a current active member of Law Enforcement United in good standing

  • 18 years of age

  • Physically able to participate. Be in good health or under doctor care/permission to attend.

  • Be registered for a specific event completing all required forms including as applicable to you by established deadlines including but not limited to Medical, Hotel, Vehicle, Transportation, and Sponsors, Participation Waiver and Code of Conduct

  • Have all required uniforms, appropriate bicycle, gear/ equipment, and safety equipment

  • Train and have ability to ride in a group setting on road conditions with various elevation levels

  • Meet all fundraising requirements and deadlines.

  • Adhere to fundraising policies and procedures

  • Report all donations and fundraise using only approved Law Enforcement United tools and resources

  • Meet all Uniform Apparel Requirements

  • Conduct themselves as Ambassadors of Law Enforcement United in good faith and adhere to all standards and code of conduct

 

SUPPORT TEAM PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to participate as a Support Team Member in a Law Enforcement United Bicycle Event (The Road to Hope (VA-PA-NJ), The Ruff Ride, The FLETC Long Ride, or the Western VA Ride) you must also be one of the following:

1. An active or retired law enforcement officer or corrections officer who is either sworn or is eligible for Public Safety Office’s Benefits (P.S.O.B.) by the U.S. Department of Justice

2. An immediate family member of a Law Enforcement Officer (L.E.O.) that died in the line of duty ("Survivors")

3. Civilian (non-sworn/non survivor) that is sponsored by an active member of Law Enforcement United, Inc. who is Active or Retired Sworn Law Enforcement Officer or Corrections Officer, or a Law Enforcement United Survivor. 

 

Additionally you must:

  • Be a current active member of Law Enforcement United in good standing

  • 18 years of age

  • Physically able to participate. Be in good health or under doctor care/permission to attend.

  • Be registered for a specific event completing all required forms including as applicable to you by established deadlines including but not limited to Medical, Hotel, Vehicle, Transportation, and Sponsors, Participation Waiver and Code of Conduct

  • Able to complete tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, moving large items, be a driver or passenger in a vehicle for long periods of time, work in a team environment, multi-task and work under time, equipment, and outside elements

  • Meet all fundraising requirements and deadlines.

  • Adhere to fundraising policies and procedures

  • Report all donations and fundraise using only approved Law Enforcement United tools and resources

  • Meet all Uniform Apparel Requirements

  • Conduct themselves as Ambassadors of Law Enforcement United in good faith and adhere to all standards and code of conduct
